Hi, I’m liz moglia jackson.

We are the sandwich generation constantly being squashed between the care and attention we want to give our kids while coming to terms with the fact that we need to start parenting our parents.  It’s complicated as we raise our own families and long for and truly need the advice and help that our mothers, fathers, and older relatives always lovingly gave us but are now physically & mentally unable.

I hope this website and my musings can help people feel like they are not alone. I call this Postcards from the Sandwich Generation as a nod to Carrie Fisher’s memoir Postcards from the Edge, where she found amusing moments in her tumultuous struggle with drug addiction. She was also quite self-deprecating which I very much relate to as I am not proud of many of my ways as I continue to juggle my kids (teens now- aargh) and deal with my mother who has been suffering from dementia for the past 6 years (such as expletives coming out of my mouth, or raising my finger - the middle one- many times at my mother’s back during the first year I took care of her).  However, like Carrie,  finding some amusing moments has helped guide me through the more narrow paths & maybe I can get a smile or just a nod of acknowledgment from you, dear reader.
